Jamestown Island is site of the original Fort James, built by colonists in 1607 to maintain the first permanent English Settlement in the New World. Visitors can tour the Glasshouse and watch costumed artisans as they blow and fashion glass in the 17th Century manner. These handmade items are available for purchase
9:30-11:30am Tour Jamestown Settlement (2 hour narrated/guided walking tour)
Your visit at Jamestown Settlement begins in an expansive indoor museum complex. Discover the world of Pocahontas in the Powhatan Indian village. From the Indian village, a path leads to a pier where the Susan Constant, Godspeed and Discovery are docked. On board you’ll get a sense of the spirit of adventure that motivated the Jamestown colonists as well as the strenuous living conditions endured during the four-and-a-half month voyage. Next, explore the triangular James Fort, a re-creation of the one constructed by the Jamestown colonists, including homes, a church, a store-house and an armory.
11:30-12:30pm Time for lunch (pay on own) at the Jamestown Settlement Café or to visit the gift shop
12;30-1:00pm Transfer to Colonial Williamsburg traveling on the Colonial Parkway, the same route that was taken by colonists between the two settlements
1:00-4:00pm Tour Colonial Williamsburg
(2½ hour narrated/guided walking tour) America’s largest living history museum – From 1699 to 1780, Williamsburg was the political, social and cultural capital of Britain’s largest, wealthiest and most populous colony. Colonial Williamsburg encompasses more than 500 buildings and 180 acres of magnificent gardens. Your Colonial Connection guide(s) will take you on a narrated walking tour through the town; learn what life was like in colonial times for both the rich and the poor. A visit to the Colonial Capitol is a journey into America’s past.
4:00-5:00pm Time at end of tour to visit the shop is Merchants Square adjacent to the Historic Area
5:00-5:30pm Return transfer to hotel
